Galveston Clubhouse:
Impacting The Loneliness and Isolation epidemic*

Across the State of Texas, there are 10 Clubhouses that are helping their members lead rich and fulfilling lives. Galveston County Clubhouse — which launched in May of 2024 — is a community of persons living with mental illness who work together, learn together and build relationships for meaningful and productive lives. Clubhouse offers a cure to isolation and loneliness.

What We Do

We create a place of business, Monday-Friday, for people with mental illness to go to work and contribute to the transformative and healing impact of the Clubhouse community.

We go to work, just like anyone at any business, with a mission and vision for accomplishing the purposes of Clubhouse. We meet in committees, we plan for the accomplishment of defined goals, assigning tasks, and reviewing performance against expected outcomes.

We celebrate birthdays, have Superbowl parties, go to conferences, and participate in being a learning and growing organization.

We honor and affirm outstanding achievement of members who have gotten a degree, found new employment, maintained their health and wellness, and overcome personal crisis.

We eat lunch together every weekday, prepared by Clubhouse Members.

Our Reasons for creating Clubhouse

There is no other organization in Galveston County that creates a place for persons with severe mental illness to BELONG.

Galveston Clubhouse is a community where stigma and shame are absent, and where members can relate in meaningful relationships, doing meaningful work.

Clubhouse is an organization that is Member led. Clubhouse is a place where Members are in charge and are in leadership at all levels.

But our most important purpose is this:

To make friends. To put an end to isolation. To cure loneliness.
